Overview:
WordLynx is a 1-2 player point-based word game combining the flavor of Scrabble and Wordsearch with the strategy of Chess together into one game.
Gameplay details:
The goal of WordLynx is to obtain at least half of the points on the board. The amount of points needed for you to win is indicated on the upper-left of the in-game status bar, stating "# left", meaning # points are needed for you to win the game. You obtain points by creating words on the un-owned (
black) tiles and claiming the points on them.
Your starting pieces are colored
green and your opponent's are colored
red. When it is your turn in the game you'll start your move by selecting one of your (
green) pieces and then proceeding to select adjacent (including backwards and diagonally) pieces to your starting piece to create your word. You may use any pieces on the board to create your word, including your opponent's pieces, however you will not receive any points for this as the points for those pieces have already been claimed. You may not use the same piece multiple times in a single turn. Once you have decided to commit to a word you will right click your mouse on the game area (or click the 'play word' link in the bottom status bar) to make it official, you will then see the word you played in the upper status bar along with the points you acquired from it.
All WordLynx game boards have been tested to verify that all pieces on the board can be used with at least one word up to four (4) characters long.
